Affidavit

An affidavit is a statement of facts and circumstances known and sworn to by an oath or affirmation of the affiant. To notarize an affidavit, an oath is administered by a notary public who verifies the identity of the signer (affiant), witnesses the signing of the statement, or “affidavit.” The notary public then affixes their official notarial seal to the affidavit or attached certificate of notarization, signs and dates it, and completes a record of the notarial act in their sequential journal.
